Our Beginnings

Our foundation first began in September, 2001. While volunteering with the Pender Humane Society I worked with Pender County Animal Control on several occasions. One of the officers told me that she had found a really nice brown mixed dog that was so sweet (named Holiday). She said that she really hated to put him down because he was so sweet. I told her that I had been thinking about starting my own small canine rescue group and if he did not get adopted, I would consider taking him. The officer went on vacation. When she returned, I called and she said "Holiday had a litter of puppies!" I said "I thought it was a male", and she said, "so did we!" I drove up there with another volunteer and brought home Holiday, her 4 puppies and a male border collie. Well, that is how we got started. You can never plan with a rescue shelter-you never know what you might end up with.
