I was born and come from Tyler, Texas. My grandfather had a photo studio in Tyler and as a kid, I used to hang out in his place all the time...I think that is where I got my start as an artist, as he was one of the most beautiful "painters with light" that I can remember. I did a lot of traveling around the country after college...and finally landed in North Carolina...which also began my migration from acrylics into steel. The idea of working in steel had been brewing and stirring around in my head for a long time. So, about 6 years ago, I began twisting and bending and cutting. The results from that decision have been extremely satisfying from the creative side and from a self-fulfillment side. I work from a "Direct-Metal" approach to sculpture...where the work is slowly built up, piece by piece. The Industrial Age of Machinery and the Art-Deco period have always been an influence in my life and now in my work. I always try to reflect part of that "feel" into each piece I create.
